Something's happening in Georgia! Come on down to Encounter Church September 30- October 2 to see what all of the commotion is about.

On the weekend of September 30- October 2 Encounter Church Sterling will be presenting a production of the musical Cotton Patch Gospel. The show will feature local musicians, visiting actors and members of the church congregation. The musical is based on the Cotton Patch Version of Matthew and John, a vernacular translation of the gospel story by Clarence Jordan.

Cotton Patch Gospel is delivered in the southern dialect for which it was written, and it contains moments of humor (we hope), but there is no sarcasm or insincerity in this presentation. Taking the familiar story of Jesus out the dusty past and away from distant lands, we are hoping it breathes with new life, that it hits closer to home in blue jeans and sneakers than it might in white robes and sandals.

This musical production is a continuation of what Encounter Church hopes will be an annual tradition presenting Broadway quality material which contains a clear presentation of the gospel. Last year’s production was Smoke on the Mountain Homecoming.

What if it had happened now? What if the choices had been ours? Would we have seen “the Livin’ Lord’s man” or a threat to our comfort and power?”

There will be no admission charge for the production, but like last year, a freewill offering will be taken at intermission. Show times are 7:00 p.m. Friday September 30, 7:00 p.m. Saturday October 1, and 3:00 p.m. Sunday October 2.
