For decades the little church on 6th Street in Sterling was Sterling Assembly of God, now the sign says Encounter Church Sterling Campus. What’s up with that?
About a year ago the Assemblies of God district superintendent asked the Great Bend church to come along side of the Sterling church and provide support, taking the Sterling church on as a daughter church. Pastor Dozier and the congregation agreed to help and, to make the relationship clearer, both churches became Encounter Church, where anyone can encounter Christ, encounter friends, and encounter a godly destiny.
This arrangement has not changed the basic service of the Sterling church. We still hold services each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. with a message delivered by our campus pastor Wayne Beaver. Children’s Church is offered at the same time as the main service. On Wednesday nights we meet for various types of fellowship and Bible study at 7:00 p.m.
